Cotton Harold's Career Gin

In the early years of the 1940's in Coverdale, Georgia at the young age of 19, he started a life's passion in work with cotton gins. As the years went by and his knowledge grew he expanded to all areas in this field. In the 1950's his career took him to building gins and training the people to operate them in the countries of South America, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and Nicaragra. In the early 60's as his family grew he devoted to stay closer to home. The next decade he was employed with Hardwick-etter Gin Co., traveling, selling, building and maintaining cotton gins in the Southeastern Region of the United States. 1976 brought a job opportunity with Continental Gin Co. that spread towards the west. The next six years he traveled through out Texas, Oklahoma, Mexico, and New Mexico.

Semi-Retirement

In 1983 he came home to Georgia and started Ethridge Gin Service during the next few years he built cotton gins throughout Georgia. Due to health conditions in 1988 he and his wife Jane settled down in Hazelhurst, Georgia where they opened a Pawn Shop.

Time to come home

In 1995 he and his wife Jane moved to Rebecca, Georgia to finally settle into complete retirement. "But" as anyone who knew him this was just not meant to be. Please follow the links below to view his days as "Mayor".
